Chapter 3

Proverbs 3 (Don)

Proverbs 3: 9-10 (KJV)

"Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase. So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."

These verses speak of how God honors giving. I’m a firm believer; in the fact that there is no way you can out give God.

I met a man in Zürich, Switzerland in the mid 1970’s that had quite a testimony, one that spoke about the blessings of God when you honor the Lord with your substance. This man and his brother could not find employment. It was directly after World War II and there just were no jobs available. They were skilled craftsman working with wood. They started their own business building eloquent doors and windows, but times were hard and the business was failing. He said, “We were not able to sell the things we were building.” He compared their production by the size of the waste of sawdust piles, which were so very small. With a heavy heart he cried out to the Lord saying, “Lord help my business to be successful and I will always give you the first fruits.”

God blessed his business so much that the sawdust piles grew so large they could not burn it all in their furnaces, so they began to haul it off to be sold. His business was known in that part of Europe for his doors and windows of very high quality. God made him a very wealthy man. God blessed him so much that he lived on 10% of his income and gave God 90%. Yet, he had all he needed proving you just cannot out give God.

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now here with, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Malachi 3:10

You may be rich or poor but you choose how you handle what God gives you. His Word says, “Prove Me.”
