Proverbs 14 (Kent)
"Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy." Proverbs 14:10
"Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief." Proverbs 14:13
Verse 10 poignantly points out the remoteness, the sheer isolation of our feelings from others. We say to one another "I feel your pain!" but in truth we do not, we cannot. Even our best efforts to vocalize our feelings do not accomplish this. Only by Divine intervention can we really feel what another person's heart feels. This precious gift from God is rare I think, only for very special occasions.
Verse 13 points out that what we see on the outside (laughter) may be the opposite of what the heart is feeling (ache).
This is sad in a sense but there is One who knows the true feelings of our heart, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. For the redeemed, He even resides in our hearts. We are never alone, never misunderstood, never forsaken.
Is that GOOD NEWS or what!? PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
