Proverbs 24:10 "If you fail under pressure, your strength is not very great." (NLT)
Oh boy! Have I been living this Proverb the past 7 weeks! It's amazing how I have been fooling myself these past couple years thinking how great we are, how we're able to handle everything that has come our way. From contemplating new jobs (for my wife and myself), living through the turmoil at both jobs, to raising a beautiful daughter, we have been doing quite well for ourselves.
Heh heh heh. As you might guess, I slipped into a place that was fraught with peril... we were handling things, we were doing well, etc. A whole lot of I and a little less of God. Then, God sent us a beautiful son. For those who have more than one child, I'm sure this story will bring back fond memories, I'm sure :)
For myself, I've been going insane. The great routine into which we had settled was scrambled in a blender. Complete chaos ruled.
Sanity has slowly been returning but only after God reminded me that, no matter how difficult the situation was which we were handling, it was His strength that was keeping things together. Not mine. Or ours. In essence, as one of my daughter's Thomas and Friends videos put it, I got "too big for my buffers".
And that's as simple as it gets: Every time you think you are strong, remember that if you fail even once, you are not quite as strong as you think.
