Chapter 1

PROVERBS 1 (Don)

1: 2 Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right, to understand what life means and where it is going; A MANUAL FOR LIVING. MSG BIBLE.

1: 3 To receive instructions of wisdom, justice, judgement and equity. KJV

1: 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instructions.

Wisdom is not simply a matter of the intellect-it is learning a life in a relationship rightly with God, from God’s perspective.

A person response to wisdom places him into one of four groups:
1- The wise is one that heeds and receive the truth and thus becomes discerning.
2-The naïve is one who does not listen to wisdom and is easily deceived in life.
3-The scoffer is cynical and sarcastic in regard to the wisdom of God and spiritual things.
4- The fool has rejected God’s wisdom and as a result is dull and wicked both morally and spiritually.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, man needs to study and learn God’s truth and increase in wisdom.

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Tim 2:15

"That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God."
Col 1:10
