Chapter 17

Proverbs 17 (Megan)

Proverbs 17:14 “Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.”

I just had to get the last word. How dare they not understand exactly where I am coming from? There’s no way they are going to get away with treating me like this. So I say something charged with bitterness, pride, and defiance. Ha. So there! So. . . why do I feel so horrible? Great, that totally backfired on me. When will I ever learn? Now I have to go apologize and hope they can forgive me.

Proverbs 17:27 “A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.”

God, help me to not talk in those moments when my words will cause damage.
