Chapter 11

Proverbs 11 (Is)

"When the wicked die, their hopes all perish, for they rely on their own feeble strength." Proverbs 11:7 (NLT)

There are two types of plans. God's plans and our plans. God's plans are supported by the unlimited strength of the Almighty God. He can't die, He can't fail, and He doesn't need a contingency plan. Gods plans are indelible and unchangeable throughout eternity.

In contrast, people have a fairly short human life span. We are forgotten not long after we die and our ambitions and dreams are like smoke in the wind. If it ever works at all, what we do eventually fades. Our sphere of control ends at the moment of death.

King David describes this feeling well:

"LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away. 5 My life is no longer than the width of my hand. An entire lifetime is just a moment to you; human existence is but a breath. 6 We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth for someone else to spend." Psalm 39:4-6 (NLT)

The Bible reminds us over and over again that God is the only one who can be counted on.

"But the LORD's plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken." Psalm 33:11 (NLT)

"You can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail." Proverbs 19:21 (NLT)

And the Bible tells us how we can buy stock in a system that will guarantee huge returns on our investment.

"Sell what you have and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven have no holes in them. Your treasure will be safe – no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it." Luke 12:33 (NLT)

Look around and see the many wonderful opportunities to invest in God's kingdom. When you see what God is doing, take action.
